UP assembly election, the fifth phase of polls may form the very foundation of Samajwadi Party’s prospects in terms of party’s final tally. This is primarily because more than 13.5% of the region’s electorate belongs to the Yadav community – making it the ‘Yadav land’ of Uttar Pradesh and an obvious “traditional stronghold” of SP. But snubbed by the voters in the last assembly election and then in Lok Sabha by-poll, the ‘dhartiputra’ is leaving no stone unturned to reclaim the lost ground.
Mulayam had held the maximum number of public meetings in Mainpuri, Etah, Etawah, and Kanpur Dehat as compared to the rest of the districts. Even SP state president Akhilesh Yadav has kept the region on the top of his campaign engagements in the state. Both have addressed four to five public meetings in each of these districts.
