Ram Naresh Yadav (Born 1 July 1928,Azamgarh), is the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, India. He was from Janata Party, later he joined the Congress. He was appointed Governor of Madhya Pradesh on 26th August 2011 by President Pratibha Patil and was sworn into office on 8 September 2011.
He belonged to a family of moderate means. His father was a teacher. He was a successful lawyer in Azamgarh court. An ardent follower of socialist leader Raj Narain, he was interested in social work and joined politics. He entered the Lok Sabha in 1977. Ram Naresh Yadav was considered a low-profile politician. Circumstances put him in the chair of Chief Minister.
Unfortunately, he had no experience of administration. He lacked the abilities to rule the huge and complicated state of Uttar Pradesh. Even as the Chief Minister, he continued to be a loner. The office of Chief Minister bore a deserted look because nobody believed in his authority. The bureaucrats of the state had a field day because they knew about the inexperience of the Chief Minister.
On 25 Feb 1979, he failed to secure a vote of confidence. Banarsi Das was elected in his place and became Chief Minister.
He remained Chief Minister from 23 June 1977 until 28 February 1979.
In 2004 Lok Sabha elections he contested from Azamgarh on Indian National Congress (INC) ticket.
