Vasudev Singh BSP MLA, joins Congress

Bahujan Samaj Party sitting MLA from Shikarpur Assembly seat Vasudev Singh on Monday quit the party and joined Congress in Uttar Pradesh. Singh had won from Shikarpur constituency on BSP ticket. After delimitation, he had tried for nomination from Khurja seat, which was refused by the party.

Vasudev Singh after resigning from BSP joined Congress along with some leaders from Khurja district including Subhash Sharma, Dushyant Singh Chauhan and former MLA Vasik Rana.

Mayawati called a three-day meeting to take stock of poll defeat

Bahujan Samaj Party supremo and former Uttar pradesh chief minister Mayawati is in introspection mode. The Mayawati has called a three-day meeting of her party leaders to take stock of the poll debacle. The BSP managed to win merely 80 seats this year, as against the 203 it won in last elections held in 2007. Today is the second day of the meeting. All state party units of the BSP, district office bearers and zonal coordinators have also been invited for the National Executive meet.

Mayawati alleged on Congress, BJP for losing

Mayawati who formally resigned today, has defended her government, which was decimated in the UP elections. Her Bahujan Samaj Party got 80 seats, as compared to 206 in the last assembly elections of 2007. She refused to acknowledge that her government had failed to provide any development for the state. She said her defeat must be blamed on the communalization of the elections by the Congress and BJP. The former chief minister said 70% of Muslims voted for Mulayam Singh Yadav and his Samajwadi Party as a result.

BSP and SP damaged the political culture of UP: Uma bharti

BJP firebrand leader Uma Bharti on Thursday alleged on Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajwadi Party have sown seeds of caste and “damaging” the political culture of UP with the help of Congress. BJP with the help of people of UP would bring the politics back on tracks, Bharti said.

Bharti said that people of the state do not want the corrupt government of BSP nor want an alternative to it in the form of  ‘goonda raj’ of SP.  She also alleged that the Congress was practicising appeasement politics in favour of a particular community.

UPA chairperson  and  Congress President Sonia Gandhi has accused the Bahujan Samaj Party for improper use of funds sent by the Central Government for the development of Uttar Pradesh. UP Eelctions: sixth phase hectic campaign end

The Campaign for sixth and penultimate phase of Uttar Pradesh assembly polls in 68 seats spread over 13 districts,  including  Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddha Nagar, came to an end.  The electioneering saw leaders of all political parties including Congress, Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Lok Dal working hard to woo voters in the area popularly known as ‘Jat land’.
