Political parties believe that the main issue concerning the youths is education and employment and they would not vote for caste and religion considerations. so all parties in poll bound Uttar Pradesh have gone to woo unemployed youths with job opportunities, even if it means making a complete U-turn for some of them.
Realising that youth votes could play an important role, political parties have addressed to their problems, specially relating to unemployment and skill development, treating them as a separate section in their respective election manifestos.
UP Assembly polls all political parties have lined up some campaigners from Bollywood, newly-floated Bundelkhand Congress seems to be the front-runner in terms of “star appeal”. Actor-turned-politician and president of Bundelkhand Congress Raja Bundela is also roping in local artists from the region.
There is also talk of actress Nagma, actor Raja Murad and Ravi Kishen campaigning in favour of Congress candidates. Raj Babbar, being a party MP, would obviously campaign extensively in favour of Congress. BJP has number of actors who are actively involved in politics.
The Assembly elections 2012 inches closer, political parties are using social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter to galvanize their base and woo undecided voters, Be it Congress, Samajwadi Party, Bharatiya Janata Party or Lok Satta, all parties are on an overdrive to connect with voters in cyberspace. Candidates from the three GBN constituencies of Noida, Dadri and Jewar have created Facebook accounts to attract the youth.
