BSP and SP damaged the political culture of UP: Uma bharti

BJP firebrand leader Uma Bharti on Thursday alleged on Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajwadi Party have sown seeds of caste and “damaging” the political culture of UP with the help of Congress. BJP with the help of people of UP would bring the politics back on tracks, Bharti said.

Bharti said that people of the state do not want the corrupt government of BSP nor want an alternative to it in the form of  ‘goonda raj’ of SP.  She also alleged that the Congress was practicising appeasement politics in favour of a particular community.

Never said that SP would form next govt in UP: Varun

BJP MP Varun Gandhi on Tuesday clarified that he had never stated that Samajwadi Party would form the next government in Uttar Pradesh.  Referring to his remarks that appeared in various media recently, Gandhi said he had merely predicted the complete meltdown of the BSP in the current elections, from which other parties including the BJP would gain.

Varun said he was not a psephologist and had made the remarks only after getting reports from the media, which suggested that BJP was set to make substantial gains in the state and SP would also fare better in the 2012 assembly polls…

No alliance with SP, BSP: Uma Bharti

BJP’s firebrand leader Uma Bharti on Monday said if her party falls short of majority in forming the government in Uttar Pradesh after the Assembly polls, she would prefer “drowning” rather than striking an alliance with either SP or BSP.  In case we fall short of majority in forming the government in UP, I would prefer drowning in Saryu river rather than striking an alliance with either SP or BSP,” she said an election rally at Ramlila ground.

Maya eyes on Ayodhya, SP may be a fork in BSP plan

BSP chief Mayawati held her third election rally in Ayodhya on Thursday, a day after she kicked off UP 2012 campaign in Sitapur. Ayodhya one of the five assembly constituencies in Faizabad is an important one to watch out for, even as the first phase of polling in the state begins on 8 February.

While Uttar Pradesh watchers have called it a fight between the BJP and the Samajwadi Party in Ayodhya, Mayawati’s candidate Ved Prakash Gupta — a traders’ leader who belongs to the influential Baniya community — is expected make a dent in the BJP’s traditional vote base.

PU polls: Mayawati assault Congress on corruption issue

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Thursday attacked Congress saying 62 big scams involving around Rs 20 lakh crore have taken place during the UPA regime at the Centre. Addressing election meetings, Mayawati termed the Congress-led government as corrupt and said despite these scams the CBI has not shown the inclination to speed up trials. “No action has been taken on the Amar Singh, Mulayam Singh Yadav and Shanti Bhushan CD case,” she said.

No alliance with SP, BSP: Gadkari

BJP precedent Nitin Gadkari on Thursday ruled out any “direct or indirect” alliance with SP or BSP in Uttar Pradesh and charged Congress at the Centre and the ruling party in the state with looting people.  Addressing an election meeting in Ramnagar area here, Gadkari said taat the SP, BSP and Congress were all together. they are together at the Centre and in the state they are involved in shadow boxing.
