The final phase of UP polls today is in the western part and Terai region of the state. Polling covering 60 constituencies began today with around 24.59 per cent of voters exercising their franchise till 11 am. 968 candidates will battle it out today in 60 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh. Most of these constituencies like Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur and Lakhempur Kheri fall under the Tarai region of the state.

Polling for the seventh and final phase of Uttar Pradesh assembly elections covering 60 constituencies began this morning amidst tight security arrangements. More than 1.82 crore voters in this phase of polling, Polling on 60 seats in ten districts began at 7 am and would continue till 5 pm, chief electoral officer Umesh Sinha said.
This final phase covers Bijnore, Moradabad, Bheem Nagar, Rampur, Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Badaun, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur and Lakhimpur Kheri in which more than 1.82 crore voters are expected to exercise their franchise.

Uttar pradesh assembly elections, in Ghaziabad district polling remained largely peaceful where rural centres registered a higher turnout than urban areas. The five constituencies of Sahibabad, Loni, Modi Nagar, Murad Nagar and Ghaziabad recorded a total polling of around 58.78% on Tuesday. Ghaziabad and Sahibabad, which comprise mostly urban population, recorded around 56% and 56.6% polling. In comparison, the three typical rural assembly constituencies of Loni, Murad Nagar and Modi Nagar recorded 58.3%, 62% and 58% polling respectively.
